Kunstmatrix is one of the longest-running names in virtual exhibitions. The Berlin company describes itself as "a pioneer in virtual exhibitions since 2009," and its 3D exhibition tool, Art.Spaces, is used by galleries, schools, and individual artists.
If you're comparing it with other platforms, three questions come up again and again: Is Kunstmatrix free? How much does it cost? And what happens to my exhibition if I stop paying? Here are the answers, checked against Kunstmatrix's own pages on October 6, 2026:
- There is a free Starter plan, but it can't publish. It holds 10 artworks and includes "no public 3D Exhibition." You can build and preview, but you can't share a link or embed the show.
- Public exhibitions start at €10 a month (Basic). Regular is €25 and Professional is €50 a month. Kunstmatrix lists these prices "without taxes."
- If you stop paying, your exhibitions go offline. Kunstmatrix's FAQ: "After the end of your booking period, all your public exhibitions and art will be unpublished."
Below, we look at the plans in detail, then calculate month by month when a pay-once virtual gallery costs less.

Kunstmatrix vs. Art.Spaces — are they different?
No. Art.Spaces is the 3D exhibition part of a Kunstmatrix account, alongside Art.Depot (inventory) and Art.Office (sales and contacts). The pricing is the same on every Kunstmatrix site: "All features of Kunstmatrix included within each plan."
Kunstmatrix pricing in 2026
| Plan | Price | Artworks | Public 3D exhibitions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | 10 | 0 |
| Basic | €10 / month | 50 | 5 |
| Regular | €25 / month | 250 | 10 |
| Professional | €50 / month | 500 | 50 |
| Larger plans / Custom | On request | On request | On request |
- Discounts for paying ahead: 10% off every three months, 20% off yearly. There's also a one-off prepaid option for 3–24 months at the monthly rate.
- Taxes: the pricing page says "all prices without taxes."
- Extra rooms: premium room designs are sold separately in the Kunstmatrix marketplace, from about €80 to €970.
- Media: video, audio, and 3D sculptures are active by default on paid plans only.
Is there a free Kunstmatrix plan?
Yes and no. The Starter plan has no time limit — Kunstmatrix's terms say a free account is "valid for an indefinite time" — but it's built for trying the editor, not for showing your work. Without a paid plan there's no public exhibition, no share link, and no embed for your website.
What happens to your exhibition when you cancel?
Your public exhibitions are unpublished at the end of the booking period, and the account falls back to Starter. Your artworks are kept, but any link you posted on social media, any embed on your website, and any QR code on a flyer will stop showing the show. The same applies when a prepaid block runs out.
That's the real cost of a subscription for an artist: an exhibition is meant to be found later — by a curator, a collector, a new follower — and a monthly plan means it only exists while you keep paying.
Cost over time: when does pay-once become cheaper?
Let's compare the same number of works on both platforms.
- Xibit360: the free room (5 works) plus one extra exhibition room (15 works) is $25, paid once for a 20-work show, across two rooms. For 50 works, it's three extra rooms: $75, once.
- Kunstmatrix: the cheapest plan that can publish is Basic — €10 a month, or €96 a year with the 20% yearly discount. Basic covers up to 50 artworks.
Euros are converted at the European Central Bank reference rate of October 5, 2026 (€1 = $1.1204). Kunstmatrix's prices exclude tax; Xibit360's taxes, if any, are added at checkout.
Total paid (USD) over the first 24 months of keeping a 20-work exhibition online. Horizontal axis: months. The ring marks the month Xibit360 becomes the cheaper option.
A 20-work exhibition:
| Months online | Xibit360 | Kunstmatrix Basic, monthly (€10) | Kunstmatrix Basic, yearly (€96) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $25 | $11.20 | $108 |
| 3 | $25 | $33.60 | $108 |
| 6 | $25 | $67.20 | $108 |
| 12 | $25 | $134 | $108 |
| 24 | $25 | $269 | $215 |
| 36 | $25 | $403 | $323 |
A 50-work exhibition:
| Months online | Xibit360 | Kunstmatrix Basic, monthly (€10) | Kunstmatrix Basic, yearly (€96) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | $75 | $33.60 | $108 |
| 6 | $75 | $67.20 | $108 |
| 7 | $75 | $78.40 | $108 |
| 12 | $75 | $134 | $108 |
| 24 | $75 | $269 | $215 |
| 36 | $75 | $403 | $323 |
The break-even point is month 3 for a 20-work show and month 7 for a 50-work show. Against the yearly plan, Xibit360 is cheaper from day one in both cases. After that, Kunstmatrix keeps billing — and Xibit360 doesn't.

To be fair to Kunstmatrix: it offers real business tools — inventory, offers and invoices, a sculpture workflow, an AR app, and institutional plans for schools. If you run a commercial gallery with hundreds of works, those can be worth a subscription. If you're an artist who wants a beautiful room for your own work that stays open, you're paying monthly for an office you may not need.
